Sumit Dhingra is an NHS Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals. He has a special interest in glaucoma, cataract surgery and general ophthalmology. He also runs a Private practice at the Fitzwilliam Hospital, Peterborough.
His medical training was at the University of Oxford where he also completed a masters degree in physiological sciences. Following this he has completed 9 years of post-graduate higher surgical training working at various eye hospitals including Oxford, Birmingham and Sheffield. He has completed three years as a glaucoma research fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Institute of Ophthalmology UCL studying advances in glaucoma surgery. Following his training in general ophthalmology he further enhanced his specialist glaucoma training by joining the prestige glaucoma fellowship training program at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
He maintains an interest in teaching and training, regularly gives national and international presentations and is actively involved in the training junior surgeons and allied health professionals.
Sumit is married to Hema, a Dental Surgeon and Director who has a dental practice (Ballard and Tucker) based in Biggleswade, they are proud parents of new baby boy.
